Hello.

My question is can you install a 649 (Bodyguard) hammer into the also J Frame 60?

I thought of trying to get a shorter hammer on a model 60 rather than bob it for concealment.

Thanks in Advance.

I never tried it, but I'd think it would work. At least everything under the side plate should be the same.
Somebody will correct me if I guessed wrong.

My good friend Erich has an old M-36 in which a Bodyguard hammer has been installed. Looks like Dr. Frankenstein's nightmare, but it works. Not much gained from it, in my view, though.

Erich, post a pic of Frankie, would you?

We have installed Bodygurad Hammers in Model 36 revolvers in years past when requested.
It was a no brainer.
The usual fitting of the DA strut was all that was ever required

I have a factory DAO M-37 with a bobbed hammer and would think you could go that route too. I also have a M-36 someone bobbed the hammer but left it DA/SA. With some practice you can shoot one SA and also set the hammer down safely if you decide not to shoot.
