Installing Jerry Miculek grips???

I picked up a set of used Jerry Miculek N frame stocks today. I don't have any directions for installing them.

The stocks have a metal bracket already installed where the bottom screw attaches them to the frame. Do I need to remove the frames existing alignment pins and bracket at the bottom of the pistol frame prior to installing them and utilize only the bracket already imbedded the stocks?

When I attempt to press the grips onto the frame the pins hang up on the top of the internal metal grip bracket and that keeps the grips about 3/4 of an inch from being properly seated.

I've tried installing them on both square butt and round butt N frames with the same result. Can anyone help with the proper installation procedure for these grips? If not, could anyone advise where I could find some installation documentation or advice?

You will leave the existing pin in the bottom of your frame. The grips come with a bracket that you snap over the existing pin in the bottom of the frame. It sounds as if they just stuck the bracket down in the bottom of the grips to keep it from getting lost. See if you can pull the bracket up out of the track inside the grip to install it on the frame.

It looks like the connecting bracket in the grip may be similar to the factory bracket. I can't see it well enough to determine if it looks like it needs to be attached someway to the N frame factory bracket.

It could be that I'm trying to add one bracket too many and one or the other should be removed. I've tried to gently remove the one in the Miculek grip but it doesn't want to be removed easily.

I wonder if the grip itself has a bracket included or if one was somehow left in the grip and not removed when it was taken off a gun. It really looks like the bracket on the pistol butt frame will have to be removed or, as you suggest, the one in the grip will have to be removed. I'm concerned about damaging the grip if I try to remove the bracket.....

You were right.... Another bracket was apparently stored in the slot and I was trying to put one on top of another... All fixed. Grips on the gun....

Grips are such a personal thing. Every time I look at Miculek grips I think about how butt ugly they are. Every time I shoot a gun with these grips I marvel at how good they feel and how well the gun handles. They'll stay on my 4 in. 629 and my 627.

Yes, counter-intuitive. They looked awkward and slick to me, but I can handle my 625 just fine with them. Mind you, I don't try for 1" groups @ 25yds. Of course with my eyes I don't try for 1" groups with any of my pistols unless I'm shooting off bags.

I think they are used primarily for fast shooting at steel or whatever; I like them for rapid strings at head-sized targets out to 20 yds.

They are a personal thing. They appear to work best for people with small, short, or very thick hands. All with fairly short reach. For a lot of us they seem a bit small and hammer the base of your thumb with major loads. People seem to love or hate them.

You must have seen my hands.

I have about 60K rounds with the grips but I always have to carve on them to custom fit to my hands so that they don't hurt me.
