Has anybody used Aguila Interceptor 22 lr? I have a long distance ground hog problem that has been going on all season. I have regular velocity 22lr hollow points that dont' seem to get any penetration at about 70 yards. I know I'm not using the best ammo right now for penetration, but I'm starting to believe that this family of ground hogs have mated/mutated with some type of robo-rodent. I have hit several of the ground hogs a couple of times and they roll around for a bit then they get up and walk away and come back later.* I haven't been able to find many reviews on the interceptor except blurbs and descriptions from the company which of course sound fantastic. If you've used it I would love to hear what you think about it.

*You may have asked yourself how I know it is the same ground hog that I have shot. Well I've developed a marking technique that I am willing to share. I place a couple of old half empty cans of spray paint in the favorite ground hog area. Then when one is close to a can, I shoot the can. I'm sure mostly everybody here has shot a can of spray paint and knows what happens. If not, stop reading and go to youtube. As of now I have a one blue, one white, and one orange ground hog. Each have had 30 grains of lead atleast once. Mr. Blue has had two doses and still comes to the clover patch on a daily bases. I'm hoping that the interceptors will end my robo-rodent issues.

If anyone has any extra Interceptors please see my ad in the WTB classified for, all of my local shops have not had and can not get any Interceptor ammo. (Imagine that)

I've never heard of it, but have you tried Stingers or Winchester's Dyna-Points? The latter were developed in Australia for big hares. And the higher velocity of the other may help.

Good luck.

Don't guess you own a .22 Magnum?

Hello jeepjeepwhat,

Get the Interceptor's. They will do what you want to do. There will be no walking away at 70 yds. These are hot rounds. They shoot a little high.

Whodat, I have heard the same thing from different places and I wish I could find some interceptors to buy. I have found a couple places buy I dont' feel the need to buy 500 rounds of it. So if you know of a place I can buy a box of 50 please let me know!!

Texas Star, I bought some other high velocity rounds by aguila but really have my heart set on some interceptors. And no I dont have a 22 mag as of yet. Although this sounds like a good reason to go buy another rifle!

Well Natchez carries Aguila. You missed out this time around. They had some up until about two weeks ago. Not to worry, they seem to get restocked with Aguila fairly regularly. Just hit the link to be notified when they are in stock again. I purchase by the brick myself. I have plenty for the moment. This is my multi-purpose 22LR ammo(target shooting(couple hundred rounds per range visit), varmint and Self-defense pistol(5 to 10yds.) ). I have shot over a 1200 rounds without any problems with any of my 22 cal. weapons. You may need to re-sight your gun in for these. After that you are good to go. Here is a link.
