Interchangable parts from N frame to Triple-lock?

About 25-30 years back Numrich(e-gunparts.com) sold NOS triple-lock yokes that would fit a new model N frame with some minor mods. One of the gun mags even had an article on fitting them. I doubt you can find either the yoke or the article today.

I found a yoke from a forum member , but need the cylinder in .44 Special. My copy of David Chicoine's book Antique Firearms Assembly/Disassembly arrived today and it has a section on the Triple-lock. Drawings look like a lot of the "N" frames have like parts. Hope that is true, will make my search much eaiser.

Jim,
The action parts will be basically the same between any pre war .44 hand ejector. The main differences are the extractor rod, yoke, barrel, center pin.
If you had a barrel, cylinder assembly, and yoke from another pre-war N-Frame (ie the aforementioned 1917)theoretically you should be able to put yourself together a decent shooter with some minor fitting.

Thanks Dave C! That was what I was thinking. It makes sense that S&W would build their N frames with using standard parts without having to retool for every new model.
