Just rec'd in trade this interesting 5 screw 38spec. If i can get the pics to work, let me know what you think. It looks to me like someone was trying to budget build a target gun (front and rear sights). image.jpg 5 inch hand ejector ser. No. 592xxx

It's of course a .38 M&P, and probably shipped about mid-1928. I agree with your conclusion about the sights. That's one you might consider getting a Wonder Sight for, due to the high front sight blade. It might work very well.

On a 5" Triple Lock

This is a 1917:

I have to say that Triple Lock is consistently my favorite gun to shoot. The work that was done on the sights just makes it a joy to own and take to the range. If i had to start selling off guns for some reason I think that it would probably be the very last to go.

A couple of those pictures do not make me think so much of an effort to build a target revolver, but to have a rear sight that while fixed, is a lot easier to see. I find the S&W fixed sights to be sub-optimal at best, because the rear sight is just too hard to see in a hurry. The sights on the Night Guard series were about right. A blade like these would be a major improvement on a fighting gun.
