Interesting attire choice for concealed carry...

His goal was for every one in the vicinity to know that he's carrying. ;) Before the gun was visible he'd already made that obvious with his statement.

Most likelly he is new to ccw, and I'll wager that in a year or less he won't be carrying that full size gun either.

He needs to hike those pants and cinch that belt a few notches.
Yup. Even a "regular" belt will do a better job than that if you get it up around your waist and cinch it up enough that it can't slide down over your pelvis.

Obviously a noob - and an immature one at that to be sure. Some people just have to run around "screaming look at me!" all the time.

IT'S A MEDICAL CONDITION.

White boy booty (AKA no booty). I suffer from it myself. At 300#'s ya think there would be something back there to help hold your pants up. Suspenders and or thumbtacks required. You can bet Nicki Minaj don't have that problem. Add to the fact that belts are rarely worn around the belly button anymore, and I now wear a belt about as often as I did a tie. If you are gonna wear a belt make it a good/stiff one. A pancake type owb at appendix position with the holster outside of the pants but the belt threaded on the outside of the holster holds it close to the body, the holster is sandwiched between the belt & pants. Ya gotta get creative when Mother nature throws you some curves.

He may be doing his Wallyworld walk at the gunstore.

Depending on what jurisdictional your in here in the peoples republic of NY you could get in a lot of trouble.

Yes I know the OPs story concerns a gun shop, but showing on the street or in a business could end up with you losing your hard to get permit. I noted this in another thread a few days ago on here!

There are only 3 places in my state I open carry or get no concerned about if I might be printing a bit. My own property, a gun club or afield.

When going out I work hard at doing a very good concealment of whatever it is I'm carrying. I used a full sized 1911 for years and have used a Jay frame (Model 60) and a PPK type for many yeas also but have experimented with a gun as big as a 29 4'' and keep well hidden.

We have many people in this state that plainly stated hate guns and if they see something will call the police. They have been doing this since I was a kid and now with cell phones they can and will call you in fast.

So a smart person here learns to carry well and lose the self conscious thing about reassuring yourself often that yes your gun is secure and on you.

+1 I know people do it, probably some reading this who will roll their eyes, but lugging that size gun around gets old fast. Particularly if you don't have the right rig. Before long all his friends will have seen his cool big gun and he'll quit bothering to bring it out with him.

I have been having more problems keeping the gun under wraps lately.

I went from 237 pounds four years back to 140-144 now after the cancer diet.
Several belts , pants from 40 to 32W and suspenders later the pants are still a problem daily. Even pocket carry is a pain in the belt.
Winter coming fast and ankle / shoulder holsters are another option.
Well at least I can try.
The incision scars are still painful and standing 5 minutes is difficult.
These young folks have little reason but laziness to blame.

The hell with his gun hanging out. Someone needs to do that boy a big favor and let him know that anyone with legs as skinny as his should never be seen in public in shorts.

Anyone want to bet he's got on black shoes and socks.

Yes... shorts are for little boys and women... never wear them myself... not matter the weather (that goes for "flip flops" as well.) (Just not my thing... no offense to those that actually wear shorts, and or flip flops ;) )

I will share my 2 cents here, because stuff like this really p*sses me off. It is people like him that give us concealed carriers a bad name. I guarantee he thought he was so cool because he has a gun, and wants everyone to know it. Probably doesn't know how to use it, but he has it.

I see this all the time going to my local shop. People who haven't the slightest experience with firearms, in there buying carry guns, and asking questions like "are glocks reliable????" or little girls "I'm not strong enough to rack the slide". Guess what, the dealer doesn't care, and they sell it to them anyway. It really scares me that there are people like this walking around armed and dangerous. But you can't push for training requirements or any regulation against it because that is infringing on our rights.

People need to take it upon themselves to be properly educated. Sadly, the majority is about as dumb as a box of rocks.

Recently in my area, it was on the news. There was an accidental shooting at a college campus. It was some bum like the guy referenced above, who thought he was so cool owning and carrying a gun. Well, he was showing it off while at school and it went off. Didn't hit anybody luckily, but it landed him expelled from the college. Then, a week or so later, and I swear I am not making this up, the same guy was on the news AGAIN because his cool gun just randomly fired but this time it was in CHURCH. He was showing it off to people in the middle of mass and it went off!!!!!!! People like this should have their rights to own or operate a firearm taken away. I'm sorry but people like that should not be anywhere near a firearm.

I hope I'm not that bad.....

I'm not trying to be too judgmental here, but I found this individual's choice of attire to be interesting to say the least..... Perhaps those new to concealed carry can take something away from this.

I stopped by the gun shop today for some browsing. Not too long after I arrived, some guys came walking in and went over to the AR accessories. Almost as soon as they walked in, I heard one proclaim "Yeah I'm carrying an xyz gun" (the actual gun name was muffled).

As he said this, my eyes drifted over and I immediately saw the gun printed obviously on his hip. No, that's not what my thread title is about. Yeah I make sure to never print but if you don't care, that's fine.

Soon after, however, anyone could have seen he was carrying because as started to move around, his gun was exposed. Over and over again. OC is legal so there's no issue there.

He kept adjusting the gun and pulling his shirt back over it. I don't think a minute went by that his hand didn't go to his gun. At one point, he was squatted down right next to me with the gun exposed. It was in an Alien Gear holster, so I easily could have had possession of the gun in less than a second.

My observations on this....Mainly a poor shirt choice. His shirt was too short and possibly didn't have enough room around the waist. Carrying a larger handgun IWB at 4:00 generally requires a shirt with more room, if not for eliminating printing than at least to keep it covered.

All also, a better belt. His pants were nearly hanging off on his right side. This probably contributed to the constant exposures. Getting it through all the loops is an added bonus.

The other thing was he was very loud and animated.... really drew attention to himself. I'm wondering if he was perhaps new to concealed carry.

Here's a picture I snuck while pretending to be on the phone...

I asked in another thread about being self-conscious at first about carry. I guess this guy is an example of how NOT to be.
