Interesting experiment- .44 magnum and Bullseye

Just recently aquired a 29-2 and been getting hole touching groupings at 25yds. with 7.5gr of Bullseye behind 240gr LSWC.
Great load with just enough punch that lets you know you're shooting a 44.

I'm proud of this 29-2 and I'll reserve stiffer loads for my 629-6.

the accuracy load in 44 special , 1970 lyman manual is 3.0 bullseye. i load 3.7 bullseye with a 200 grain cast bullet in a magnum case. yes you can load this. i get these loads by looking at 44.40 starting loads, as the 44.40 is 12% greater case volume than the 44 magnum. i use the same bullets in 44.40 and 44spl and magnum. 3.7 BE is extremely accurate.

With really lite loads in a big case, it is critical to keep the powder at the bottom near the primer, or at the top. You can stuff some filler material in the case to keep it at the bottom. You'll get velocity differences if the powder is all over the place. If no filler, point the muzzle straight up...and then aim at your target and shoot. This will keep the powder pretty well at the case bottom. You can read Beartooth Bullets technical guide for more info.
