I took this picture the other day of this little furry spider. Not sure what kind it is, but it has a very unusual pattern. Anyone know the name of this little guy?

Im not sure as to what kind of sipder that is, but I also found one lurking on my driveway. The body on this behemoth was probably the size of a quarter...

The first spider looks like a small version of what I call a Barn Spider. They all have that awkward body/leg length relationship with the hairy/spiky legs.

The second spider could be some form of Wolf Spider. The second one shown by spoon22 looks like the mysterious large black spiders that suddenly appeared here in Las Vegas. One expert I contacted says he thinks they are a species of funnel web spider but could not tell me if it was native to the area or even native to the US.

I don't even 'splat' them in my house..

I call all spiders "splat"

We generally try to shoo them outside. Something interesting happened one time, though. A wolf spider got into our house. I don't see to good, but it had a cloudy appearance to it's back. I tried to grab it with a tissue (those suckers are FAST) and spiderlings that had been hanging onto her back scattered in every direction. I was compelled to spray because I didn't want a couple of hundred wolf spiders growing up inside the house. Aw man, why did she have to come in here in the first place?

A friend of mine is a spider expert. He made even trips to Africa to look for new spiecies. I have send him the link of this topic. See what he has to say about this creepy creatures.

I have an old friend with a farming background, which automatically will qualify you as an expert on bugs..... He says, after having seen multitudes of bugs over his life time,he sees a new, different variety real often....Even though the scientists all tell us there are still millions of insects unknown to man, my friend the farmer says, somewhat seriously???,while most people who believe in aliens think they will appear in humanoid form, the fact is, they (aliens) are already here in the form of bugs you never saw before..So, there is your answer about the different spider.
. .I further noted, this thread regarding SPIDERS, deteriorated right quick, to half-truths, innuendo, and out-right sarcastic remarks, as most spider threads seem to do....... I like this forum for just that reason.... Pull on your "thick skin",scroll on down to the lounge and type away!!.Regards

Back to Davids spider, here in South Central Ky, we call those "jumping spiders". The little sucker just jump about 2 feet at a time.
