Over 700 people lost their jobs in the UK after a ransomware attack devastated the computer systems of a logistics company. Seems that their financial records were screwed up to the point that banks and other financial institutions were unwilling to risk money to tide the company over. This implies either the company was already in trouble or the banking system in the UK is clueless/unsympathetic regarding certain unfortunate facts of modern society. You decide.

Reading between the lines, I suspect the outfit was using antiquated software with little or equally old software protection. Add in failure to train employees on proper internet activities (such as opening questionable emails or click on links) and many firms are in the same situation and just waiting for a scammer/hacker to hit them.

AS LVSteve already is aware, there have been 2 substantial hacks here in Vegas: MGM and Caesar's. There are rumors circulating that these were a field test for a more substantial citywide hack with all the huge events coming up: F1, Superbowl, CES show.
