I wanted to introduce myself, but decided to wait until my mods were complete to do so. I'm about 80% done, and since the next few mods will take a month or 2 to complete...figured I'd show you what I've got so far.
I'm pretty new to shooting, have a Sig 226 Tac Ops handgun, and recently purchased the M&P 15-22 after a lot of research. Like most, I started out wanting an AR, but decided that due to budget for ammo, and ease of shooting a 22 at most indoor ranges around here...the 15-22 would be my best bet. Eventually I plan on getting a Sig 516...but the M&P 15-22 is my tactical toy for now!!
I started out with a project in mind...as many I think, to make this thing tactical and look great. Though....every accessory on here plays a role, and nothing has been added for looks only. But since I was going to add said accessories, I wanted them to come out looking like they belong together, not a gun full of throw away random parts. With that said, here's what I've got.
Started out with a stock rifle, threaded barrel and flash suppressor on the end. Added some goodies, so I'll outline them below with pictures (because everybody loves pictures!!).
Stock:
Then I added a Streamlight TLR - 1s HP light with button:
Then a forward grip ($7 I think, off Amazon) and ladder rail covers ($4.99 off Amazon). The grip folds/locks to several positions. It's not 100% solid, has a little play, but its worth more than what I paid anyway.
Then I filled in the M&P letters + fire/safe letters...with you guessed it...crayon!
Then added Fab Defense Mako Grip and Mag Well Grip (I really like shooting the gun from the mag well grip. Feels more comfortable to shoot + provides more stability for me.) As well as a NcStar Mark III scope:
Lastly a UTG OP-2 bi-pod:
Purchased a couple extra mags...and for now the gun is complete. In the future I'd like to add MOE collapsible sites, MOE stock, and a sling. I don't see myself making any changes or additions after that.
I've got a newer one, DZW serial #, and after 600 rounds or so, I've not had a single FTF, or FTE. So far the ammo and gun have performed perfectly.
Big thanks to everyone's pics/feedback on here on their own projects. This site has been a great resource for me (as well as YouTube!).
