That looks eerily like Andrew did before it came ashore.
We really don't need another major storm so soon, or at anytime, as far as that goes.
East coast be prepared and ready to get out of its way if advised. Now is the time to be packing and securing.
You can always unpack if it fizzles out.

Now's the time to check shutters and grease those threads on bolts and thumb screws. Make sure everything works. Weather it goes north or south of us its gunna blow. Windows and doors are usually the weakest part of the home.

Two words...garage doors. If you lose your garage door, you're probably going to lose your roof. Tapcons along the bottom and bracing with 2x4's perpendicular to the hinges is cheap insurance. A lot of garage doors here didn't stand up to the 140 mph winds of Charley and during Andrew, homes in Dade fared even worse.

Last week I added nails to the straps that connect the roof. Saved a bunch on insurance.

I ordered my shutters but doubt they will be ready in time. Gotta come up with a plan B.

Weds. I'm supposed to head south to close on my other place. I hope like hell it happens. I don't want another delay.

I'm not liking the looks of this.

Good to hear from you Caj, been quite awhile. Let us know if you survive, or where the wake is if ...............................

I personally wouldn't bother trying to purify the water, just go with liquids of known purity.

Good luck.

Just moved to Pensacola this summer. The house we bought seems to be about as secure as it can be, storm shutters on all windows, roof tie downs, garage tie down and a full house generator. Storm rated exterior doors. Not sure what else could be added. Excluding the booze of course.
