WE'VE DONE AS MUCH AS WE CAN FOR HURRICANE MILTON SLOWLY APPROACHING - NERVE RACKING!

Praying for everyone down there. Can't imagine it.

Is it that you have a cultural revulsion of telling people they will die, or do you have so much faith in the ability of humans to survive that you find the statement unacceptable.

LVSteve now that the storm is over, did you want to ask me that question again ?

My family member texted at 8:00am that a neighbor of his said the new houses appeared to have not flooded, but the older houses did flood, I guess the older house are a few feet lower elevation.
He said the power was out so he couldn't see the cameras. He was going to wait until Friday to go back to check in his home.
He said he was an hour south of his home currently and they did have power where he was. His home is in Punta Gorda.

ETA: I just spoke to him and he said he made it home about 11:00am today, the power came back in just before noon. Some roads are flooded in Punta Gorda.

He said the only damage he has is a tree down in the yard, flowers and landscaping pretty much gone and the lanai around the pool was destroyed.

Sounds like he faired very well. Hopefully many others are as fortunate as he is.

There was much wind, rain. No twisters here, Thankfully. Power went off 10:45 pm, just before the 11 pm NHC update. I guess we really didn't need it since the course was set. Had to fire up my propane stove and percolate coffee this morning, don't know why but it was the best coffee ever even if it was hot enough to burn a hole through the mug. Power came back around 3pm. No damage, lost 1 bag of food, picked up the debris in the yard already. I took the chance on bare feet since the water is still over my ankles. I have seen sitreps around the state and lots of folks were not so fortunate. God Bless those who got the "double trouble," it'll be awhile before life gets back to normal. Joe

we were without power for 2 days here in North Central Florida but no damage or flooding. My daughter in St Petersburg had trees down in the yard but no damage to her house. She just got her power back on this morning. Lines of utility trucks have been heading North all day on I-75. Governor said over 97% of the power has been restored. The South bound interstate traffic is almost back to normal. It was bumper to bumper for several days with people trying to get back home.
