Is a New M&P 9 made in 12/2009 new?

I mean will have the newest updates, fixes etc? The envelope with the spent brass that came with my new 9 had a date of 12/2009 on it..Are the ones made in 2010 any better?

The only thing that might not be updated is the sights. Does it have the "stepped" rear sight?

ETA: I am assuming it has the silver striker. Lock the slide back and look underneath the slide at the leg of the striker. Is it silver in color or black?

The striker thing is over blown. I got my issue M&P in March of 2006 ["B" series] and my personal one in August, 2006 ["F" series] and haven't managed to break anything in either pistol.

The gun had a serial # that started in D, stepped up sights and a silver striker so I guess all is well..Need to get out to the range and see how it shoots

All the stepped sight does is allow for one handed slide racking. S&W will not update it for free.
