Is something wrong with my 4506 firing pin block?

When I depress the firing pin block as far as it will go and then depress the firing pin from the rear of the slide, I'm able to push the firing pin about 3/4 of an inch through the breechface. I'm not used to seeing the firing pin protrude out that far. Is this normal? This is with my 4506, 45 ACP.

I should note that when the firing pin block is NOT depressed, the firing pin does not protrude through the breechface which I know is normal.
