Saw a couple of these in a LGS with the FDE furniture. Priced about 100 more than the non Magpul ones

For peeps that have bought was it worth it?

I have an original non-threaded all-black model, but I'll weigh in anyway, since it is not stock any longer. If you like FDE, then you save a fair amount by buying this option. I've added Magpul folding sights to mine (kept it all black), and they were about $98 for the pair. A replacement grip is about $20 (I've got a Hogue, it was $25) , and the Magpul base buttstock is $60 on their website, although I've seem them in stores for a maybe a bit more, depending on the store. I opted for a upgraded Magpul stock, the STR ($95), because of the bigger cheek weld.

I'd say buy it itf you like it, or if they only have this model. :)

If you are not crazy about FDE, you probably would not have any problems trading the FDE items for black with a number of folks on this forum

It all depends upon if you like the Magpul stuff or not.

If you are gonna get the stuff later, it would be cheaper to buy the special version.

I say no. You will most likely rarely use the sights. The Hogue grip feels better. And the other magpul stocks such as the ACS and the CTR have a friction lock to make the gun feel more secure.

While not solely a good reason and often overlooked, it already has the QD installed and a threaded barrel. I went with the black MOE and have no regrets.

Thanks for the replies

The Magpul stock def is tighter on the gun than the oem one that rattles around quite a bit. I do like the Magpul sights and how they pop down if you add optics

The also have one in all black MOE for same price as the FDE 599

One thing I did notice is that the Magpul grip leaves a gap at the back as in it doesn't sit flush with the lower.

Normal?

The also had a Performance Center 15-22. Not sure what the stock is on that but I sure do like it

One last question. Does all the Magpul that fits the MP15 also fit the 15-22?

- yep, absolutely normal and nothing to worry about.

- PC stock is a VLTOR model, with a Hogue grip.

- yep, all the same Magpul bits will fit, other than the BAD lever (which does fit the 15-22 after a couple of bends). 15-22 stock is based on a Mil-spec tube.

I do not have one of these but would purchase simply because of the QD sling points. Wish mine all had that feature. Magpul stuff is OK but I really love having QD points all over the place.

I just MOE'd mine with grip, gen 2 sights, stock and ladder rail covers. When you start buying those items separately, it can add up pretty fast. I would have prefered to buy the gun with these items already on it but back in December, you took what you could get.

I bought the MOE version because I wanted the threaded barrel, QD sling points, fold down sights, and a better but stock. Love it and am glad I got this model with no regrets.

A threaded barrel is available on the "Standard" model. Has nothing to do with MOE version.

While other models have a threaded barrel, the "standard" model (811030) does not.

I think if you have any desires to add any Magpul stuff then I say it is worth it. I would like the sights and stock and that already is more than $100. Go for it.

I bought one and the girlfriend bought her kid the standard version. Shooting them I can't tell one bit of difference but I prefer the look of the MagPul equipment especially the sights.

I have a standard and a MOE model. If I were to do it over again, I would get another MOE in FDE instead of the standard. I've already upgraded grip, sites and will likely get a a Magpul stock...

I picked up the MOE used. I liked the magpul furniture better. I did swap the stock with my M&P 15 though, so the 15-22 runs a standard stock and the 5.56 runs the MOE. I think the Magpul upgrade is worth it unless you want to spend more accessorizing yourself or know flat out you can leave the standard model stock.

The only really unique option on the MOE that doesn't have an exactly equivalent aftermarket offering is the integrated single point sling attachment point. There are a bunch of different clamping style buffer tube attached solutions available to replicate the function though, and it looks like you can achieve pretty much the exact same sling mount point if you're willing to drill into your rifle.

If you would just go out and purchase all of the exact Magpul goodies that come on the MOE version if you bought a non-MOE version, then yes it is a pretty good deal (when I did the math it seemed like you would save somewhere in the neighborhood of $80). I was set on the black MOE myself and am kinda glad in hindsight that my order of one was delayed and I was able to cancel it based on the fact that at this point the only MOE bits left on my rifle would be the MBUS.

I ended up buying a MOE Black 15-22 this afternoon at lunch from Grabagun.com Saved about 100 dollars vs locally. Hopefully will be getting it within a week.

Ive never purchased a gun online before so not sure what to expect as far as time wise delivery

I personally think the MOE is a great deal. You can buy the rifle, rip off all the MOE stuff and in turn sell it for a minor profit as the premium you pay is less then buying the parts piece by piece.
