IS THERE A BIG SHOT ON HERE THAT CAN CALL S&W TO SHIP OUT A LOAD OF 617 MOUNTAIN GUNS

If they’re like the earlier announced versions they are vaporware. You cannot get them. Until I see one I can actual buy at or below MSRP I think it’s S&W / Lipsey playing games.
That's true but the announcement means eventually you should be able to get them. For OP I think that's a win.

Maybe try a different dealer. Mine seems to have a constructive relationship with Lipsey's. I order and received both the 629 & 686. Paid MSRP -50.00 for both.

I would be up for a K frame 22 with a light taper barrel. 10 shot would be appealing, but I don’t know if that intails any loss in the feel of the action. 10 shot would be handy plinking and would make it viable for Rimfire Challenge matches

Love the 617 mtn concept. It's a 10 shot m-18 in stainless steel with great sights and a better grip. What's not to want. Or am I missig something?
You're missing the fact that S&W quality ain't great these days, and you could end up with a $1200 paperweight that needs trips back to the mother-ship for repairs/missed quality items.

You could be very right. I haven't bought a new Smith in ages only own 3 with locks, 1 willed to me, and other two were a moment of weakness 7 years ago. Haven't even shot them yet as I had others in same caliber. I have an 18-2 and 617 no dash. I sure like the concept of the 617 mtn. Hope I am not disappointed. I just asked my dealer to see what he can do to get one. Will let you know how it turns out.

Pick mine up from my dealer Monday. We’ll be starting the testing on it. Hoping for the best. It should make for a nice simple utility .22 woods gun.

The glass is half empty for so many on this forum. This is great that they are making them! I have been buying guns since the late 1970s and all brands can have problems but most are fine. These are mass produced items. Most of my newer smiths are great. They can all be tweaked a little bit to make them better but again they are mass produced. I think 1200 for these American made guns is fine. They do have to make a decent profit.
