As someone who just got there carry permit in Ga i want to make sure i don't carry anywhere i am not legally to do so but it seems laws keep changing all the time. I mostly stay in Ga but might go into Alabama or other adjoining states so be nice to fully understand all the laws such as in Ga i can open carry or conceal carry with gun loaded and chambered but a co worker said in bama you have to have the gun unloaded is this true??

Your not suppose to carry in libarys or post offic correct..

I know about carry. Org but it seems its not easy to read whats legal and whats not

Thanks

There are MANY sites that try and compile this information for all 50 states. The NRA would be a reliable one to use.

If you are just talking about one or two states, I would go to that State's website. It should be more current than any site that compiles information

That is dependent on the laws of the State you are in.

Also be advised laws change suddenly. Do your research just before you venture.(Have it in writing) FWIW most times changes are not in the gun owners best interest.:(

Also, be sure to read up on laws pertaining to hollow point (HP) ammo. For example NJ does not allow HP ammo, don't ask me why b/c it is counterintuitive. When I go there (have a buddy from my police academy days) I make sure to swap out my carry ammo, FBI 158 +P HP, for some FMJ stuff.

Maybe in your state--the free world is getting much better despite the anti-gun hoopla.

There are about a bazillion websites that claim to do this, and all are in various states of current vs. outdated vs. flat out wrong. Go straight to the source of each state you are curious about. They each have the relevant information on whatever passes for their public safety department's website.

Handgunlaw.us has worked VERY well for me and is quite up to date. I print out the laws of any given state I may be in and keep it in a file folder in the flap behind the drivers seat of my Mountaineer...

The websites of the various state police and/or Attorneys General of whatever states you're interested in generally has information of permit recognition/recipiocity. They may or may not have links to specific parts of their statutes on legality. I'd check those first.

You are likely incorrect.

Given the vast majority of non-New Jersey residents who CCW in that state are carrying pursuant to LEOSA, you are likely incorrect in your statement regarding HP ammo. Hollow point ammo is absolutely allowed for LEOSA qualified persons.

Be safe.

Well I read the one on guncarry.us for GA and it just keeps stating over and over that you shall not carry into jails, courthouses, prisons, places of worship or bars but I wish they was a site that would just simple list where you can and can not carry I didn't see anything in there about Post office (other then i guess this is a federal building) and or library.. Library is not a Federal building is it?

Then you are reading outdated info. For a year or so (since July 2014, I believe), Georgians have been allowed to carry in some bars and some churches.

I use handgunlaws.us and the CCW app. I cross reference both and if there is a conflict, there rarely is, I go the the State web site for clarification. Both the website and the CCW app usually have a link for that.
