I came into some 1980's S&W parts that are identified by product code. Is there an easy way to look them up and to cross reference what they would fit? Assuming M66 & 686 as some parts are stainless but I'm sure some like hands, springs etc. cover a wide range.

Example - Old receipt lists "0702400 Thumbpiece" and the part bag is marked "7024".

Thanks

I haven't tried it but maybe you could put that number into a "search" on the Numrich parts web site? Or just "Google" search the number?

Google doesn't work and Numrich #'s don't correspond, unless there is a cross reference I am unaware of. The numbers do seem to correspond on the instructions/manuals you would get with the gun but I don't know where to access all of those and of course wouldn't be a cross reference but would be a help.

In the Jerry Kuhnhausen book 'The S&W Revolvers - A Shop Manual' there's a pretty extensive set of exploded diagrams with 4-digit parts codes.

Those S&W numbers you list are simply part numbers used by S&W to identify their products and manufactured parts.

There are two PDF files located in the "Notable Thread Index" listed under "Parts", in the heading at the top of the "Smithing" area of the forum.
Keep in mind, these are older documents, and will not list any of the recently released or newer models.

According to S&W Customer Service, the company is no longer producing schematics or parts number lists for public distribution, viewing or use.

We are on our own in that respect, and in terms of repair and maintenance of many of the "older" models. My advice would be to enroll on one of the armorer field schools, if you are eligible.....and while they are still conducting them.

Thanks guys. I actually have Kuhnhausen's book, never gave it a thought. Has all the blued guns #'s but stainless gun are not listed with the codes. Will have to use the PDF's for that. Still have to check each model, hope there is a cross reference somewhere.

I have an older S&W parts catalog what part are you interested in?

The part number you gave is listed for all of the stainless revolvers, J, K,L,and N frame.
