Is this a sign things will get better price wise?

I think everyone over built on the semi-auto handguns and the distributors are stuck with a lot of inventory. New prices are coming down which does not help those with used guns who want to sell them.

22 ammo is still limited.

I pretty much stayed out of the market for the past 2-3yrs and quit going to the range. Just started a buying binge this Summer when prices started to fall.

Last time I went on a buying binge was in 2009-2010. Stores were practically giving them away.

Just like the stock market... don't follow the panicking herd. Buy low, sell high.

Smith an Wesson (swhc) reported a TERRIBLE quarter today. I would expect to see them try to "push" in this next quarter to get the wagon back on the rails. Yaknowwhatimsayin? We've got time before 2016 elections and the next "run". Be patient and I think we'll be able to pick off some good prices in the next year

The AR market is saturated. You can't hardly give away used ones. With so many companies making them it is no wonder that new ones are sitting on the shelf. You can only cut prices so much without taking a loss.

S&W simply needs to get caught up on backorders for some of the revolver models that you can't find anywhere.

Until the next "mass" shooting.
Exactly. The LGS where I work can hardly sell $600 AR's. Glock sales are really slow even at cost + $30. Our 2 hottest guns, the Shield, & XDs don't even sell. Gun companies are now giving $50 rebates, or 100 rounds of ammo to convince people to buy. Other vendors at the gun shows are crying the blues, cutting down on the number of tables they rent, or just dropping out of the gun show circuit. Things are really bad now, so it's a great time to buy. But I feel really bad for someone who last year paid $1200 for a $600 AR, & now want to sell it & the highest offer is $300. While all the vendors certainly don't want to hear about another ban, it will certainly be GREAT for business. GARY

I have a friend who is very active in the Stock Market. I've been telling him for months to short the firearms industry. He hasn't. MEH.

Yep. Look at all the promotions of extra mags, bags and other goodies being given away. Remember what ammo cost a year ago and how hard it was to find. Mags for my M&Ps were nearly impossible to find (let alone my Sig).

Sadly, the story here in CA hasn't really changed. Legislation is pending banning online ammo sales. SSE transactions will be no more come 1/1/2015. More and more handguns disappear from the roster.

But, at least we get to keep our plastic bags. ;)

Well, actually not in my town. :(

Back to Basics

From Bill Jordan to Hamilton Bowen the view is consistently that Smith and Wesson has produced well crafted and elegantly designed revolvers, possibly the finest ever made. The semi-auto craze is fueled by the notion that our society is going to be over run by zombies (foreign or domestic). High capacity does not equal lethality, recent police shootings bear this out. Accuracy is everything and no handgun is easier to master than a medium revolver. S&W needs to center it's advertising on this notion; ease of handling, accuracy, and reliability.

And definitely get rid of the integral lock, the anti-gun crowd will never be satisfied in any event and none of us needs another key to keep track of, especially if we have uninvited guest about!

According to Dave Spaulding S&W M&Ps and J-Frames are selling well, other firearms not so much.

The local Academy Sports store here in S. Texas had a decent supply of handguns...no Shields, some other S&W's, a few Glocks, Ruger LC and LCPs and lots of high dollar Sigs and Kimber's. The shelves are also stocked full of ALL types of ammo (some .22LR). They also had a good selection of factory pistol mags, holsters and AR accessories. Things are looking better around here...

Never got into revolvers for 1 simple reason - not leftie friendly for reloading.
