Is This Barrel Regular Production?

It is definitely not an N Frame gun. It has the wide rib and the barrel is cylindrical, not tapered, as the N Frames in .38/.357. No matter how you do it you cannot make a tapered barrel like a 27, 28, or Outdoorsman into a straight-sided bull barrel. My money is that it is one of the .38 Special Model 19s that were made as mentioned above. Except for the extractor housing it strongly resembles the Dayton guns. The front sight and extractor housing are not correct to be a Dayton or else that would have been my first choice.

I am going to presume that it is a K-frame revolver, either stainless steel or hard chromed carbon steel. There have been some special orders of Model 19's chambered in 38 Special and the California Highway Patrol had the Model 68, which was a 6-inch Model 66 chambered in 38 Special, maybe it is a Model 68 and someone was really good at shortening barrels. More pictures and knowing the model number that is stamped in the frame's yoke recess would be helpful.

It is a Model 66 but apparently in 38 special. Thank you for all the info. Learned something new.
