I'm so cheap I'd just go ahead and shoot it WITHOUT a rear sight, just to see what I could do!

I was in a similar situation on a Model 51 I bought dirt cheap. It had a similar Ceracote to your gun. After thinking it over for quite a while I decided to leave it as is. I even lucked into a nickel .22lr cylinder and now I have a convertible .22lr/.22Mag part time FrankenPinto:

If he is using it "up close and personal" then there is no real need for a rear sight.

Wow I am overwhelmed by responses. Think I am looking for a rear sight . Any ideas? Also kind of entertaining a no drill mount Anda Rmr? Any thoughts on that?

My only concern from the pictures above is the contact wear on the left side of the frame when the cylinder is open. That's perfectly fixable. Aside from that, just put a rear sight on it and use it as stated above.

Had some ask what I have tied up in it. When I bought it I felt like really low balled the guy. Bought it sight unseen and thought it was a K frame by the pics. Also deducted for the missing rear sight. So all being said pretty cheap I think. BTW what would it be worth as a working gun?

The OP asked for suggestions/opinions so he gets what he asked for. No one is forcing him to do anything but merely making their thoughts known.

Find and buy a used rear sight and install on your revolver. Take it to the range and shoot it. If satisfied w/ on target results, all is cool! Good for you. If not satisfied, send it on down the road. More than likely it will find a place in your collection. Sincerely. bruce.

If it were posted at 6 bills I'd probably break my arm getting my wallet out so fast.....hard to find anything around these parts for less than 8.

Look at GB. I counted about 40 under $800. Nothing as cheap as $600 but many between $650 and $799

If staying with the paint job, I would not bother looking for and paying for a checkered rear sight. Anything that fit the cut will do to aim the gun.

Looks like the perfect truck gun as is to me. Rubber grips and all. And I hate rubber grips. Nice side arm for hunting, fishing, and protection, without worrying about damaging the finish of the gun or grips.

I once had a pre 28 6in that was rusted with flaking nickel - this in comparison is collectors piece!

It had good mechanics and good bore and it shot great! Looks like a great range gun or carry piece if you get a rear sight.

I like it, but then I can be a heretic. I think it looks like serious business. Especially with those Pachmayr Presentations. All the cool kids in my day had them on everything.
