As a small business owner, I was bombarded with offers for those loans. I did not participate, was business as usual the entire time .

Where there's "free" government money, or any money, there's always someone working on a plan to get some.

Last year I received notice that I was overdue on my payments for a COVID small business loan. It only took me a couple of weeks and filling out some documents online through a couple of federal agencies to get it cleared up and to get a fraud alert posted to the credit reporting agencies. Now if I apply for a loan the lender has to take extra steps to verify who I am (which I'm OK with).

My only aggravation is that the feds won't let me know who used my identity.

From him. Last he mentioned it the person was convicted and made to pay restitution to avoid jail time. I don't ask him about it any longer it makes his ears get red.
