Justed wanted to post a quick note to let you know that my 15-22 arrived today. I ordered it through a local gun dealer that I met awhile back. He doesn't have a storefront or employees, he got his FFL twenty some years ago so that he and his friends could get guns cheap. Anyway, he put it on order last Tuesday and I got the call from him today that it arrived.
I went and picked it up at lunch and the guy lives in country (living in Mississippi, you'd think we all live in the country
)so I was able to shoot it as soon as I picked it up. Actually we ran a boresnake through it first and put some lube on it, but THEN I got to fire it. And man was it sweet!
I put 75 round of CCI Mini-mags through it and only had one mag snag. It was using one of the first generation magazines that I ordered from 44mag.com. Other than that, it was flawless. I let the guy who sold it to me put a magazine down range and he was grinning ear-to-ear afterwards. Said that he stopped ordering the Colt version because he had so many people return them but he LOVED this gun. He's a big AR guy and really enjoyed how similar it was in function (even if it didn't have bogus forward assist).
The gun itself is a DTZ2XXX. It has the A1 style flash hider but not the MOE upgrades. It has the blue springs and the magazine is a second generation magazine. The dealer was able to shoot an incredibly tight group (didn't have a ruler to measure it) at about 30 yards... me, not so much. Keep in mind this is the first time I've fired a rifle in nearly a decade.
Anyway, I love the thing and can't wait to get to the range with it and begin really working on my shooting ability (anything at this point is an improvement
).
