It's a Northern Thing.

Joe, I'm no O fan but that's untrue...he took the flag off his campaign jet and replaced it with his logo...

Yep! Your are correct, just seeing if anyone is paying attention. He would never have the guts to do such a dumb thing. got to give him credit for that.

We look down on Southerners and Southerners look up to us Northerners.

JUST POKEN & JOKEN!!:D

You know, North is up and South is down?:)

Actually, up is outer space and down is toward the core of the earth. Dadgum Yankees still believe in a flat earth.

West Virginians get picked on by both northerners and southerners? I didn't realize that. That's interesting.

I've been to West Virginia on a motorcycle trip. I really liked it there.

+1 bazillion on motorcycling in this state.

Yes, northerners call us rednecks, and southerners call us that 'illegally-created state up north'. I normally inform the northerners about one of the theories that link the term 'redneck' to the WV mine wars where the miners wore red bandanas on their neck. Search 'Bloodletting in Appalachia' or 'Blair Mountain' if you are bored.....

In my long life, I have lived in Texas, California, Nevada, Arizona, Iowa, Missouri, Connecticut, arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Mississippi. The main thing I found out was: people are people. Good and bad the same basic person everywhere. There may be some different mannerisms, but we are all brothers under the skin. I am an American, born and bred. So I was born, and so I will die.

Yeah, but you ain't lived until you live in NewYork!

Only kidding, only kidding:D:D
I agree with everything you said.:)

Doesn't matter what part of the country ones from, it's the pride that counts. A quotation from Macaulay pretty well defines our family's position: "a people that takes no pride in the noble achievements of remote ancestors will never achieve anything worthy to be remembered with pride by remote descendants". We're all (for now) Americans.

Airforce one

Wait what!!! Obama took the flag off of AF1???? Really???? The OP says so in the firs post.

Washington isn't really the NORTH.....

So livin' on the left coast doesn't mean being a Yank? For a minute there, I thought you were talking about Washington DC. You know, the fantasy island on the right coast? :-)

Ya know, it's kind of ironic. I lived in Ontario, Canada for 3 years. I was always called a "Yank" there. Never could quite get used to it.

Well Washington wasn't admitted into the U.S. until something like 20 years after the Civil War ended.. so to me it doesn't get to claim Yankee status... being a Union territory doesn't quite cut it. :D

That I can live with.

November 11th, 1889 to be precise.

I am American, although my mother's parents were immigrants from Serbia. Born in Detroit to a Serbian mother, and raised in N.W. Alabama by her and a Collinwood, Tennessee redneck father. My God, I guess that explains my never-ending temper.....
