I'm glad you were wearing your PPE, it could have been much worse; I wish you a quick recovery.
Check to see if your volunteer coordinator filed an accident report from the incident when you were hit by the limb, any witnesses? You should be compensated in some way by the forest preserve district for your injuries. Have you had proper training with the chainsaw by the forestry district? You might want to check with a lawyer if you have medical bills and your health insurance doesn't cover it all.
