Think I posted the same thing in another thread on it, but man even Texans get something right every now and then! :D

Congrats on the rare positive legal change involving guns, and make sure to give serious thanks to the 2A activists that put their time and money on the line lobbying for the change.

Congratulations!

Florida's Republicans killed it this session.... AGAIN.

From a legal and political perspective I am delighted.

From a personal perspective I think it's dumb. I didn't do it before, with my LTC that permitted open carry, and I'm not going to do it now. Moreover, I'll be renewing my LTC when the time comes because it's worth more than this new statute, it eliminates NICS and I can carry in a host of states that this new statute doesn't help me with. Waste of time.

Open carry doesn't impress me much in the 21st century. It's a little reckless, it's sometimes oppressive to the uninitiated, never mind scary, and it tells people things I don't want them to know.

Concealed carry without a permit doesn't bother me in the slightest. Texans have been doing that for around 15 decades.

ABSOLUTELY !!! Why is "open" carry necessary ? I've carried concealed for nearly 15 years; I pose no threat and uneasiness to the public. I've always been against "open" carry, and see no need for it. I challenge any member of this forum to give me just ONE good reason to "open" carry; and please not the "second amendment" excuse.

Because freedom.

PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE A CHOICE.

They shouldn't need to ask the government for a permission slip to exercise an enumerated inalienable right.

In other words we all should be permitted to drive around in a pickup truck with a Browning .50 cal. mounted in the box.:p

Challenge? Necessary? I don't think carrying at all is necessary, but I am for the freedom for others to choose whether to carry, open, concealed, Its their choice. Its called freedom, and it is not for me or you to decide. I don't carry at all, my choice.

The news media were losing their ever loving minds tonight.

Don't they realize that the bad people have already been carrying without any sort of license, background check, or training?

yup, that segment of society is not going to change a bit because of this law. It does relieve a bit of the government stranglehold on decent folks
