From a legal and political perspective I am delighted.
From a personal perspective I think it's dumb. I didn't do it before, with my LTC that permitted open carry, and I'm not going to do it now. Moreover, I'll be renewing my LTC when the time comes because it's worth more than this new statute, it eliminates NICS and I can carry in a host of states that this new statute doesn't help me with. Waste of time.
Open carry doesn't impress me much in the 21st century. It's a little reckless, it's sometimes oppressive to the uninitiated, never mind scary, and it tells people things I don't want them to know.
Concealed carry without a permit doesn't bother me in the slightest. Texans have been doing that for around 15 decades.
Because freedom.
PEOPLE SHOULD HAVE A CHOICE.
They shouldn't need to ask the government for a permission slip to exercise an enumerated inalienable right.
In other words we all should be permitted to drive around in a pickup truck with a Browning .50 cal. mounted in the box.![]()
Well, they're hard to carry concealed. And yes . . .
Thought this thread was about CC not OC, which Texas has had for 5 years![]()
ABSOLUTELY !!! Why is "open" carry necessary ? I've carried concealed for nearly 15 years; I pose no threat and uneasiness to the public. I've always been against "open" carry, and see no need for it. I challenge any member of this forum to give me just ONE good reason to "open" carry; and please not the "second amendment" excuse.![]()

The news media were losing their ever loving minds tonight.
Don't they realize that the bad people have already been carrying without any sort of license, background check, or training?
or training?
