As you know the gun laws in the UK are I think the most strictest in the world. I bought a selection of pistols which many turned out to be banned. I handed most in to the Armory. They were registered and I was allowed to keep some but lost two, French and Belguim pistols. I was allowed to keep my Nagant and my S&W New Model 3 Target (32/44). The other was a .44 Russian. I could not keep that unless it was de-activated. I paid the £200 and waited for 11 months for it to return. I picked it up last week. I know it was not in the best of condition but I still wanted to keep it. They make a mess of them now....cut off firing pin, welded and cut barrel, cylinder locked in, screws welded up. See for yourself.
(sorry for the poor quality photos, taken indoors)

Yes , it's tough here in Blighty. The UK Gov have just banned certain makes of blank firers, there is a amnesty on now. Hand them in without compensation or face 5 years in the clink if caught with them. Because were not really allowed real firearms without a hastle many are just buying replica's. I suppose the next best thing to the real ones, without breaking the law. We dont really have any gun crime but knife crime is something else here in the UK.
I think before long they will ban all knives and we'll be eating our meals with two forks :-)

In Canada, most replicas are prohibited. Go figure...
I had a deactivated H&R top break once and just for kicks I cut it up to see what the "deactivation" involved. The way the approved deactivation is performed, there is no way you could "re-activate" one. They really butcher it beyond hope. Couldn't even open the breech. Or move the hammer.

Yeah, that sucks, Mate :-( That and high taxes are some of the reasons I know a couple of British expatriets (sp?) that moved to America. It seems like criminals in the UK have more rights than law abiding citizens, and it's getting worse. And PTL, we have a new administration, for we were going the dane way.

I guess it's too late for you, but If I HAD TO live there and I was a gun collector, I think I would have a top-notch gun enthusiast craftsman (are there any?) deactivate my firearms using this criteria (see screenshot and click on the link for more details), instead of having the British equivalent of "Bubba" do it.

Technical specifications for deactivated weapons (accessible) - GOV.UK

You can see how well the deactivation of antique firearms is working in England and in Wales...

Can't you guys have a revolution and overthrow your tyrannical Government? What will it take for you all to standup against these monsters? NO ONE will ever take my firearms from me as long as I am alive.

So, if someone breaks into my home am I expected to let them threaten my family until law enforcement hopefully arrives? Do I bake them cookies while I am waiting? I will never be left defenseless. That is no way to live, and I will never live that way.

Totaly agree with your comments but we really have no say especially since the new government took office. Anyone who publishes comments .ie...Facebook etc can be tracked down. Anyone who complains or critises is classed as far right. Just look at the recent Southport case where the 3 kiddies were knifed. People came out to protest .....many smashed up Police cars and looted shops, some went too far, some were just bystanders but most are now in jail. There bringing out new laws all the time, there cutting benefits, stopping benefits make the poorer poor.
To cap it all, they wouldn't let me keep my 44 Russion without cannibalising it...............rotters

Winston Churchill is rolling over in his grave. The same group of folks who have been trying to take over America have taken over and destroyed your country. Churchill said, "we will never surrender." Any country that willingly gives up their firearms is surrendering and leaving themselves ripe for conquest. Thank God for the Second Amendment. The Amendment which protects all of the other Amendments.

The UK people I knew who were shooters sent their handguns to clubs in Belgium. Of course, then came Brexit which made visiting your guns a bit more difficult. They all told me I was right to leave.

I have seen considerable evidence that successive UK governments are trying to suppress firearms knowledge in the general population. I know for a fact that UK.gov people sent to the US are strongly advised not to go shooting here, even in supervised ranges. Bijou cluette there, methinks.
