However, I will suppress my jealousy long enuff to return the wish for a Merry Christmas.
Truth is, if it was 85 degrees here, I be lookin' for a cement pond like that one to get into to cool off.

I sympathize with all of you in the Northern part of our country and some even in the middle. The temps are looking crazy cold. Down here in Florida it is hot and I am not rubbing it in. I would love to get some colder weather-50's or 60's would be great for me, as it would be a nice change. I could not imagine having to deal with the ice and snow.

Here at the rig 11 miles north of Midland, TX the temps are already down to 17 degrees as measured by my Fluke 52 precision thermometer and it's not quite 11:00 PM. Weather Channel says we are supposed to go down to 15 degrees, but I think we will handily beat that. This southern cajun boy ain't used to temps like this!

Nearly 80 yesterday, 12 this morning with wind chill -4. Good grief. Looking at some of the temps around the country I feel warm! You folks are tougher than I am.
And as a bonus we threw in a tornado yesterday, but only 18 degrees and not much ice this morning . . .

Weather girl forecast -29F with windchill = -36F. We fooled her. Only -24F this morning and no wind. Might have to dig out the gloves now.

Yesterday(12-17) In the Piney Woods of East Texas
while in deer camp the A/C on my camper cycled on.
It was 81 degrees just before the evening hunt(3:30pm)
Front roared in about 10-10:30pm.
I won't run a heater at night.
31 degrees inside the camper at 6am.
Turned on the coffee and the heat...deer got a
pass this morning.
Don't know how you yankee boy's last all winter.

Ok, got to say it. It's cold enough to freeze the balls off of a brass monkey!

Saturday am I was in a deer stand at sunrise; it was 30 degrees. Left church an hour ago and its 76 and humid.

Iggy, we were the same as you this morning, -6. Thankfully we didn't get the snow they were predicting. The wind is only at 10mph, so it isn't too bad out. at 1 PM we are way up to 1 above. Just staying home today. (But we did make it to church).

I used to love the hot summer and hanging out at the lake and the pool, but now I'm 57 and I don't even like being in a pool when it's 95 degrees out unless I'm in the shade. It's 7 degrees here right now in Oklahoma City but very sunny and no wind so I went riding my Yamaha four wheeler with my Border Collie running along side. I just had a light jacket on with a hood and wore gloves and a bandanna for my face, it was great!
Good grief. Only 31 and you didn't go hunt after a front passage. I'd a been out before and after if I really wanted a deer. Loved hunting on a big change of weather. Waterfowl too. In Md if ya did it right you could shoot a whole bunch of deer. Only thing I didn't hunt deer in much was a big wind less'n I hunted in a pine thicket!!...Waterfowl..oh yeah..big wind usually kept 'em lower. Well it got up to 4 above today about like they said it would.. +3 right now going down below zero again tonight.

Boy you bring back memories. I have lived most of my life in the high mountains of Colorado working on rigs. The coldest I ever was, was in January 1974 north of Tok, Alaska. My truck broke down at night and it was 42 below with a stiff breeze. Wind chill of 75 below. The next coldest I experienced was as a deck hand on an oil rig out of Denver City, Texas, just north of Midland. An ice storm came roaring in. If I had had a paycheck I would have burnt it for heat. I do not know who first made the remark" The only thing that separates the panhandle of Texas from the North Pole was a barb wire fence", knew what he was talking about.

It got down to 14 degrees this morning, with around a 20 mph wind. It was cold, let me tell you!! It was so cold that we had a mud line freeze up going from the frac tanks to the mud pits and we only shut down circulating through it for around 1 hour. We were spotting water based mud from the frac tanks to the hole and when we switched tanks all came to a screaming halt. We had to knock lines loose and actually change one rubber hose length out to finish up!
