I have an old set of stocks on my 14-3 PPU gun which I would like to have refinished. They currently have a high gloss finish which was popular in the late 60s and 70s. I would like to have the finish stripped and replaced with a soft, smooth oiled finish.
Is there a "go-to" person who is the consensus pick of the forum for stock refinishing? I have been searching but I am only coming up with threads of people doing the refinishing themselves or posts to You Tube videos where comments state that the technique in the video is wrong.
My stocks arent anything special to most anyone, but ergonomically, they fit my hand perfectly and I would probably never be able to replace them with anything else. I dont want to screw them up.

I bought a couple guns last year that had target stocks and magnas that needed some love. I used Don Furr to repair them and he did an awesome job and was very fair on the price. You may could reach out to him and see what he can do to help.

I have done several sets. I just soak the stocks in acetone for a couple says, rub them with medium bronze wool for final cleaning. maybe a touch of sanding with 1000 grit automotive paper. Then a light coat of warmed boiled linseed oil. Let that dry for a couple days then 3 coats of Renwax.

I have been pleased with the results

One thing you might try first. When I refinish grips I take the high gloss off by rubbing out with Mothers Mag polish. It cust the gloss and imparts a softer low gloss finish.
