Just got my second S&W revolver, the bug has started feeding on me. Have a K22 1950s and now a Model 10 no dash snub 1960s. Both in excellent condition.

Going to get my CCW permit in about a month and will be carrying the Model 10.

I am tired of looking at all the holster choices, time to ask the men and women who know best. Maybe it would be easier to tell me what to stay away from as well.

I would appreciate actual model numbers/names if you have them.

Your Model 10 will carry easily enough inside the waistband, although I personally have some difficulty with the cylinder bulge when the IWB holster is carried in the strong-side position. I have found that the appendix-position carry works best for me with revolvers, although this limits garment selection to something that can be worn draped over the belt-line. Also, for the appendix-position you would want a holster with little or no cant (carry angle), and the belt attachment (clip or strap) is best when offset over the trigger guard area (when right on top of the cylinder this increases bulk and protrudes out from the belt-line).

I recommend that the holster you select will feature a guard between the body and the hammer (that sharp-cornered hammer can poke some mean holes in your skin!).

As noted by itotorica, Sideguard Holsters makes some very good products and his prices are very reasonable for top-quality work. Have a look also at posts by oldflatfoot (here on the forum) of Bell Oak Charter Leather, he has a very extensive line of IWB's for revolvers with excellent designs and top-quality workmanship.

I also make IWB holsters, so if you are interested click on my username to display e-mail address, contact me and I can send some photos and information.

Well, I ordered one from Lefty today, great guy to talk too, and the next nine weeks are going to be agonizingly long, can not wait.

Thanks for the replies,

Rick

What works for my 3" Model 65 ought to work as well for a 2" Model 10. I use a Don Hume 715M. It's well made and reasonably priced.

Which model did you order? Be sure to let us know how it works out.

I sometimes carry a M&P (pre-10) in IWB during cold months. For those of you that answered that you pocket carry a Model 12 in pocket carry, poster is talking about a Model 10 (steel, not alloy)There is no way I could pocket carry my M&P (Model 10) without one side of my pants sagging to the floor! It is a heavy gun! Model 12/Model 10 are two very different guns.

Photoman I ordered a model that is not currently on the website but is the same as the Summer Heat except it is for the Model 10. Is called the Annie Oakley.
