The Sparks "Criterion" has the same spaced belt loops and horsehide back of the VM2, but without reinforcement at the mouth. It rides a little lower and the cant is greater, which is appropriate for a revolver, IMO. Both wings are slotted for great conformability.

I have a couple of observations, however. A reinforced mouth reduces the tension on the cylinder, making it easier to draw and much easier to re-holster. The VM2 keeps the cylinder on top of my hip bone, taking weight off the belt and putting half the cylinder in a natural hollow in my physique. I'm mostly carrying a 686+, and it remains comfortable and in place all day in a VM3 positioned at 4:00, walking, sitting and driving.

I've been using the Covert Carry from Wild Bill's Concealment.

The offset clip keeps the profile thin and helps keep the butt tucked in close to your side. The mouth consists of two thicknesses of leather with a polymer strip sewn in between them to keep the mouth open, even when it's inside your waist band without the revolver.

You can see the imprint of the insert in the upper picture and the holster rides with the top of the belt at the level of the top of the insert.

It's really the best of both words as you get the benefit of an insert, but you still have a low profile and a very comfortable house that rides low in the belt.

I've found it to be very comfortable with all day carry.

The holster for the 2.125" is a regular stock item. The 3" is a special order item but the website is wrong about the lead time. They indicate 8-10 weeks, but the three times I've ordered a special order item from them, it's been in my mailbox in 2-3 weeks. I spoke with the owner about this at a gunshot recently and he indicated he's argued that they should change the website, but his wife vetoed the idea as she wants people to be pleasantly surprised that it's 7-8 weeks early rather than getting it in 4 weeks and complaining because it took longer than advertised.

They are nice folks running a made in America company with excellent, well made products at good prices, just down the road in Garner NC.

I've used there belts and holsters for about 15 years now. I had one clip go bad after about 7 years of use and they replaced it in about a week at no charge. The stitching also started to get a little thin on one of their double stitched belts after about 10 years of hard use and they restitched that for free as well. You just don't find warranty service like that anymore.

The Nexus is the one without the reinforcement, the Criterion has the reinforcement, and both ride lower than the Versa Max 2.

I agree with you about the reinforced mouth.

I am very happy with my VM2....comfortable for all day carry. Certainly I would have no problem recommending one of Milt Sparks other styles for your consideration.

I'd be interested to know what you finally decide.

I have a holster made by a company that meets my want list, BUT it has only lasted about a year and a half. Its about as rigid as a wet noodle now. My gun gets soaked with sweat at work. When I use my vm2 my gun does not get wet. There is a big difference in quality between the two. I don't think i could ever wear the vm2 out. I might try the nexus, I just like the way my gun rides in my wore out holster better at work. Im a plumbing HVAC guy and for my the vms doesn't conceal as well. Its still my church and weekend holster of choice thou.

Well I called Milt sparks to order a Nexus for my model 60. I didn't know they don't make it for revolvers. So now I'm thinking tt gunleather, they have a nonreinforced mouth own. Anybody have one?

Side Guard Holsters - Double Snap IWB

This might meet your needs. While I don't have this holster, I have another of their IWB holsters, the Quick Clip, and it carries my 642 with the cylinder in line with my belt, which is what I prefer. They also make an unreinforced version of the Quick Clip, with either a snap, clip, or tuckable.

I'm also in agreement with those who say reinforced holster mouths on an IWB holster is very beneficial. I won't use an IWB holster without a reinforced mouth. But to each their own.

Nice looking!!! I think I need to stay with the two belt loops. I'm a plumber/HVAC. I unfortunately spend days crawling in crawlspaces and attics on some jobs. Besides the grip of my gun getting hung up on somebody's cable wires, my gun never moves with that style.

I used to have a Watch 6 made by Sparks (and I have the VMII). The
Watch 6 (if I remember right) was very much like the VMII except it
did not have the reinforced mouth. I gave it away with the CZ75 that
it was made for. I think it is just what you want if they still make it.
