IWB for shield for thin build

I'll put another vote in for the PJ Holster. I'm 5' 10" and 155 pounds. The PJ Holster hides very well for me. I usually keep it at 4 o'clock depending on what I'm wearing. Sometimes I wear it at 3.

I've been debating buying a 9mm shield for months, maybe even a year and finally buying it tonight. Early Christmas present. I've looked through a bunch of posts already about holsters. There's a million and one and I know It depends on personal preference. But what's a good place to start for iwb for thinner build dude. I know I'm going to have to try a bunch out but anyone with a similar body type have and recommendations to start, do you carry appendix or 3,4 o'clock or how? I've never carried before and will be signing up for a class soon. Anything I should know before the purchase this evening?

Thanks

Two hearty suggestions for an aiwb rig. First, the Klipt by Blade Tech. I carry my Shield often in this one. Two, Stealth Gear's aiwb holster. Both excellent rigs. I'm 6' 0" tall and weigh 155.
Hope this help!

I also like PJ's iwb kydex belt clipover worn at 4:00...I went with the 15 degree cant on mine after consulting with Paul. I got my holster(he builds each one to your spec after ordering) 3 weeks after ordering even during the Christmas holiday.......Mike

I used the Klipt for a long time to carry my G43 IWB, but last weekend I switched to Mazmat Holsters (hazmatholsterworks.com) "Nirvana" which is Kydex with an offset clip (comes with 1.5" and 1.75" clips). It stays in place and is many times more comfortable than the Klipt or any of several other AIWB holsters I have used with clips that are not offset. I also bought one for my SW1911SC, and it's also perfection. Highly recommend. I've also tried the Crossbreed AIWB (Kydex/horsehide) and found the weapon wouldn't stay put well enough (XDs 45) - the weapon would always start to droop down and didn't feel secure (and also I dislike metal clips).

I'll try to take some photos of the Nirvana tonight and post them up.

And as others have mentioned: dont just get a good belt, get a great one. I finally broke down and bought a Galco 1.75" leather belt - super thick and makes an immense difference for comfort, even when not carrying a firearm. Being thin, having any kind of weight in my pockets or IWB would feel like it's pulling down on my pants. Not any more. The thicker, more rigid belts form more of an oval and let the weight ride on my hips, yet still distribute the load out all the way around. Hard to describe, but trust that everyone's not making it up when they say the belt is important. Side note: I have two 5.11 nylon (or whatever synthetic material it is) belts - very thick, heavy buckle, Velcro closure - HATE them. They make my back hurt and feel like I'm wearing an anvil even before I get my gun on.

Here's a few photos of the G43 in the Nirvana holster on a Galco belt. It's also tuckable, which may be of use to some people, but not me. My only criticism so far of the holster is I'd prefer the rounded C-clip end like the Galco Stow-n-go models have - this uses a V-shape end on the clip. It still holds it securely on the belt, but the C-clips seem even better.

Blackhawk A.R.C. One of the cheapest best holsters out there.Have one for the g19 and my Shield. You can sit in a chair or your car and not have to take it off,it flexes and bends or conforms to your body.$22.00 here in New Hampshire.

clingerholsters.com ....I have the Stingray, no cant. It's the only one I've carried since receiving it. And I have a drawer full! By far the most comfortable, and smallest footprint of any I've tried in the past. And reasonably priced to boot! I don't think you'd be disappointed with this choice? (It's kydex btw)

Off topic: I'm super glad to be a part of this forum. Nobody said "use the search feature noob"

On topic: I use a standard clip holster at 4:00 for my shield and I like it, but it tends to move around if I'm in and out of my Jeep a lot requiring slight adjustments through out the day, which defeats the concept of "concealed." I'm currently looking at the Alien Gear 2.0 or 3.0 and everything I've seen/read has been awesome, so that'll be my next purchase (If Santa isn't good to me).
