IWB or OWB - 'stability' difference?

Hi all. As I begin to research holster options for when I'm ready to carry/train and knowing I could have a holster collection like my hats (a pile in the closet where just 1 or 2 get the most use) I wanted to ask a different question than "what works best for a Shield".

I'm used to wearing, uh, "relaxed fit" shorts and pants which are loose enough that putting a phone in my pocket tugs on them. This grandpa is way past wearing tighter fitting clothing lol.
So knowing I no longer have a shape conducive to holding up pants/holster without cinching up a belt nice and tight -- is carrying in or out any easier just for the fact of helping to stay in place and I guess travel better when walking or moving about? Less shifting around?

I'm thinking IWB holds in place better since it rides against one's skin, but not sure hence the question.

;)

thx!

Well, it might hold in place better, but the real question is "Which one can I draw from faster?"

I like comfort as well, you might look at Brave Response Holster. it has its own belt and seems to work good so far. It works under sweats ect

Take a look at N8 tactical holsters if you go for IWB.
VERY COMFORTABLE and stays in place well.
Many review videos on YouTube.

I'm 55, 6'-1" & 265lbs and prefer OWB myself, but holster fit is extremely personal.

I use a snubbyfan owb right hip are the same style snubbyfan cross draw. For the dress belt is the snubbyfan belt. Others times it's the uniform under belt fastens with Velcro. Has worked for me for years.

In my experience, and it may not match anyone else's, IWB works best with medium to full-size automatics and revolvers with 3 inch barrels or more. Maybe it's my shape, but snub nosed revolvers and little automatics like to "roll out" over the top of the belt. I also don't like the feel of an IWB holster. High ride or belt slide OWB holsters work best for me. Even then, the belt and holster have to be sturdy enough to keep the holstered gun from hanging out from my body. I'm 64 for what it's worth.

For me...I have found a good quality holster and correct size belt for the holster makes all the difference.

In my mind single clip Iwb Holsters are unstable.
Paddle Holsters are not worth even speaking about.

There are some excellent kydex and leather OWB Holsters that hug your body and don't move around on you

There are some cheap plastic Holsters on the market to stay clear of.
I would also stay away from the likes of DeSantis Uncle MIke and similar low quality rigs.....just my opinion
