I have two J-Frames that have around 2000 rounds through them. I am wanting to take them apart, clean and lube them. I am hesitant to start without some guidance on how to take them apart and, more importantly, get them back together properly. Can one of you give me a right direction?

You can find a youtube video from a guy we call Yoda that takes you in and out of a j-frame. Don't have the link handy, but somebody may come along with one here shortly. I doubt you need to take the trigger assembly apart and can probably do all the cleaning and lubing you need to do buy just removing the side-plate. Nothing will jump-out and bite you, but the hammer-block may fall out of place when you bump the side-plate off.

The only real serious tip me and a few thousand others would tell you is for goodness sake....use the proper size screwdriver to remove the screws. We have all seen the guns "Bubba" removed the side-plate screws from.

Steve here...
Most will tell you not to take the pistol apart, but if you feel the need, I too had to get into a 25-2 I got from a friend who took the da sear out, and I wanted it back to original.
From the suggestion from other forum members i bought Jerry Kuhnhausen's book The S&W revolver, A shop manual.
Here is the barcode from the book. You should be able to scan it with an iphone if you have a bar code reader app
