Any good recommendations? I have a no lock 442 and a 638, I’ve been debating on getting a 637. Thinking about trying appendix carry, I’m not the slimmest stud on the block though if you know what I mean.

Not sure if I got a 637 that it would be the greatest idea to carry like that with a fully exposed hammer.

Thoughts?

Well I'm 5'11" and weigh 300pounds and I carry a S&W 2.0 9mm in a IWB holster in the appendix position when things cool down here. But regular Louisiana weather I took an el cheapo glass case and sewed in and around it for my Model 36. Have had it ever since LA started concealed carry permits. I'm using a Bravo Concealment Kydex holster IWB. Frank

6'2", 195-200. My first AIWB holster was a Galco Stow N Go. Works fine. It does hold the gun very deep in the waistband, which is great for concealment, but does not help with a quick draw since the grip is so low. I present that as an opinion, not fact, and YMMV.

I replaced the Galco with a Lobo Offset Belt Clip. I like it much better, and have not used the Galco since.

Forget to add - the gun is a 642. Sometimes a 640 Pro.

Side Guard Quick Clip is the best I have used. Tell him where you want the cylinder to ride in relation to the belt line and he will customize it from high to low. LINK:

???????????????????????

This is how much I love them:

Here's all of mine, Bulldog, J and 4" K -- and 2.5" K

I like my small guns to ride low, and the 4" K higher

My K's have exposed hammers and I have ZERO issue carrying appendix

I've had good luck with Vedder IWB holsters with several types of carry guns. I just started carrying a Sig 365 and have been using a DeSantis Slim-tuk. It is a very comfortable holster and the clip is set up so it doesn't increase thickness. I don't know if it's made for your gun. I'm not an appendix carry guy so I don't have any recommendations on that.

I second the Harry's Holster recommendation. I wear the "Icon" daily around home and walking distances.

Another excellent holster is the "Apollo" from Dark Star Gear.

Erik at Side Guard is a good fellow, and that's a good recommendation (I need to get shopping over there again - maybe right after this post!). I count both Lefty of Bell Charter Oak and Alan of Remora as friends, and I happily buy their gear. Lefty's will last you forever and will be something you'd proudly leave your heirs. Alan's will last you forever and will cost you almost nothing. Anyhow, I most often use a Bell Charter Oak Summer Heat for tuckable AIWB carry of J-frames. And a leather-lined Remora Gen II with a sweat shield for everyday non-tucked AIWB carry.

Glockman9mm - Here's something to pay close attention to. And I don't know how you can decide without actually trying. But look at the J frame in eb07's photo, and note how low the cylinder is in relation to the clip. Compare that to the photo from ss336, where the cylinder is in line with the clip. As eb07 said, his gun rides much lower in the waistband, which is just how he likes it. My Lobo's offset belt clip is the same height as ss336's, so my gun rides higher, which is just how I like it. (Too lazy to take a photo.)

Again, I don't know how you can decide what ride height you prefer without trying them. Before I bought the Lobo, I tried a Desantis Flex Tuck, which is designed so you can vary that height. Nice idea, but I didn't like the holster. It did allow me to try a higher carry than the Stow N Go, and I found I preferred it.

There are tons of holster makers, so whichever one you go with just pay attention to where the cylinder of the gun sits in relation to the belt clip.

Good luck with your decision.

Using an inexpensive sticky like the SoftArmor lets you try different ride heights, and works as a pocket holster too.

I would seriously avoid any holster that collapses once the pistol I drawn. One handed re-holstering should be of paramount concern on the wish list.

Smart Carry. Bigger guy perfection. Years and years of using it one day a week all day long with a j frame. Just works.

Remora Holsters fit great and stay in place and are well made. They will cover the hammer. They are not "duty" holsters, but very comfortable for civilian EDC. I personally use an Uncle Mike's #4. It will cover the hammer. Thin, comfortable and inexpensive at around $9.00. They wear out after a year or two but cheap enough to replace.
