J-Frame Model 38 Humpback

Love your new revolver.I bought my first humpback a blue model 38 from a retired deputy from northern MI.He told me it had been his partners who kept it in a jacket pocket and always approached a vehicle with his hand on pocket.I gave it to my teenage daughter to go along with her German shepherd. At that time almost 30 years ago I worked a lot of nights and was a single parent.I replaced it with a 638 that I still carry.

For the longest time I couldn't find a Model 38 in California. Then stumbled across a few of them all at once. This is a Michigan State Trooper type from about 1965 IIRC - stainless cylinder is as factory, not a "pinto" type in classic sense.

Dave, mine’s not as purdy as a nickel model but very handy in the AZ Summer heat!

Dont see alot of bright polished nickel Model 38's.
I stumbled on one years ago that was too perfect and pretty to pass up but it is a bit newer.

I found one of those about a year ago at a great price. Got it half way home and noticed the dreaded under barrel frame crack. Luckily the store gave me store credit for it. It was a sad day. That gun was beautiful.
