Friend has a Model 51 that has "iffy" ignition, especially DA with various ammo. As the gun is 50 years old (in mint condition) he would like to replace the Main/Hammer Spring with a 12# which is listed for .22 Magnum...

Factory doesn't have any. They referred him to Wolfe...they don't make them...referred him to Brownell's...none... 9# is the highest he can find which is extra-power for centerfire guns...

Anyone know where one can get one of these springs, if they even exist anymore...

Think he may have ordered a 9#. If it doesn't work it will be going to the local Smith smith for an extended firing pin...

You might try a new factory rebound spring, which is easy to change, I think that will be 16#. that should bring the trigger lbs. up on S/A, and Double action. I think the factory main spring is 6-1/2 lbs...

The model 351C / 351PD uses a 12lb spring (red color). Midwest Gun Works has them in stock. This spring solved the same issue in my Mod 35.
