I "work" 12 to 20 hours per week in a gun shop. Essentially, my job title is "Old Coot In Residence". Today a fellow Old Coot came in with a revolver that had belonged to his late father-in-law, looking for a value approximation. He left with the vaguest possible approximation and considerable puzzling on the part of shop personnel.

At first glance, it was a pristine Model 36 -- but was not so stamped inside the yoke. Blue, .38, smooth round-butt grips, "Ladysmith" gold-lettered on the right side of the frame. Concave thumb latch.

Can anyone give an approximate date on this one? Unfortunately, I got distracted by another customer and did not get the serial number before the gent left.

Are you saying there was NO model number stamped on the frame?
