I just set one of my stocks onto my K frame with JB weld to bed it. I used Johnsons paste wax as a release agent all over the frame. And I am only doing one side at a time to avoid gluing the two halves together. What I need to know is how long should I wait till I pull the grip half off of the frame? How many hours should it set up before I pull it off the frame?

PS. Hopefully the wax will work. If it doesn’t release I will have to decide if these will be permanent grips of if I will destroy the grips getting them off.

If the paste wax doesn't release easily try putting the pistol in a freezer then after an hour or so tap lightly with a padded hammer. Has worked wonders for me in the past.

Why are you bedding revolver stocks?????
JIM............

snake803, I've been shootin' handguns for over 50 years and I have NO CLUE what these fellas are talkin' about. I'm anxiously awaitin' an answer to your question.......

When using epoxy for this sort of work, save some excess and keep an eye on it.
When the epoxy is in a fairly firm rubber consistency, remove the grips to check the job and clean up any excess with a hobby knife, then reattach the grips with the screw just snugged down and allow to fully cure.

I always applied the paste wax with an old toothbrush, which does a better job of getting it into all the small crevices.

honestly i didnt think it was that odd. One of the grips has play in it even when the grip screw is tight. It slides back and forth a little when shooting. When it is pushed all the way forward it matches up with the other grip great. So i figured i would bed it in the "pushed forward" position. If it turns out to be a bad idea i will be the first to admit it.

No, this is a common "fix" for grips that are loose.
It usually takes only a tiny dab in the holes in the bottom of the grip to tighten the fit.
