I've been wearing jeans for over 50 yrs, for the last several yrs, I just can't seems to find any reasonably priced ones that will last, I can remember jeans like Lee, Wrangler...etc, those I bought in 60s and 70s are stiff as cardboard and tough as leather when new, and will take a couple of months of wearing to become comfortable, and they last! 1 pair can last me 2-3 yrs even I wear them just about every day.

Jeans todays are all "stone washed" or "pre washed", thin as paper, stiches come undone in a matter of weeks, won't last more than a few months, granted there are more fit to choose from, but that doesn't mean much to me, since I always choose "regular fit", and "boot cut" length, is there any place still sell the kind of jeans we use to buy? none of this "designer" or " pre washed" crap. Is there anyone still make this classic American apparel like it used to?

Why can't someone sell me a pair of good jean that will last?

Done ranting.

Unless I am in court testifying, I am wearing either dress jeans or blue jeans, both of which are made by Levi. I cannot wear Wrangler as they do not conform to my body when I sit down. I buy a pair or so each year but they seldom wear out or fade for a couple years of regular wear.

The secret is to buy from western wear stores. They stock the original jeans by various makers where WalMart, Target and such use a cheaper version made to their specs by the chosen label such as Wrangler or Levi. You will save money initially buying from the discount houses but will save money in the long run buying from the places that sell the jeans to those that use jeans in the way they were intended and not as status symbol wannabes.

Nationally I suggest Sheplers as they carry a good selection at reasonable prices and have a great on-line catalog.

Yes , Carharts are one of the best out there. Something like $36/pr.

But I do buy a fair share of WalMarts Faded Glory brand for work. The prewashed are fairly heavy material , and are soft & durable for $10/pr. If they get ruined , so what.

Thanks, oldman45!

Tractor Supply sells traditional unwashed Wranglers and Levi's.

I buy Levi's, usually 501's or 505's from JC Penney. You can buy them just like you stated, stiff, not prewashed or stonewashed and they do take a couple months to break in. Like you I figure why buy jeans that are already half worn out! They almost always have them on sale and I am able to get three or four years out of a pair!

if you are a levi's man go with the 501 or 505's i work in a hardwood flooring manufacturing plant and those stand up to the abuse i put them through, everything else i buy cheap so if they get ruined it doesnt really matter.

C.E. Schmidt at Tractor Supply are what I like to wear. A lot of people around here swear by Diamond Gusset jeans, which are made right here in Tennessee. The Levi's you buy now are NOT the Levi's I grew up wearing.

Here's another one for you to consider (and I'm probably older than you): I order online from Lands End. They have a great selection, and will hem them to your exact specs at no extra charge.

I get my Wranglers from Target and they are under $20.00 The Levi Strauss Company is VERY ANTI-GUN and give many dollars to any anti-gun group that comes along. They are also anti Boy Scouts. They give thousands and thousands of dollars to other anti-family and what I consider to be anti-American causes. I will not support their agenda or wear their clothes.
