WRAL reporting that Jerry Richards, the former owner of the Carolina Panthers has passed away. May he rest in peace. Jerry thank you for bringing pro sports to the North Carolina, and the mid-south.

He was a well respected owner and the pride of Wofford College.
Never heard of him. RIP

The Wiki article is pretty much full of holes. Hardee's was started in Rocky Mount NC.
Jerry Richardson and Charles Bradshaw attended Wofford College in Spartanburg, S.C.- Bradshaw was the QB and Richardson was his favorite receiver. After graduation Richardson played for the Colts and Bradshaw went to upper mgmt at Ford. At some point they decided to purchase a franchise from Hardee's and opened their unit in 64 in Sptb. I'm aware of all this because I was hired in 77 fresh out of J school at USC into their training division. To produce training vids. The guy that hired me had the vision to use video in the units for training, He knew the operational side having worked at the first unit in HS. So he knew Jerry well as an employee of the first unit.But lacked video knowledge. I knew Nothing of rest. Ops, so I spent a week reviewing the operations manual. Each position was to be broken out as sep. Modules so as we were preparing scripts I'd spend a week doing that job. French fry station- front line cashier, etc.
So I was def. In the thick of it. When I started in 77 they had ~ 250 Hardee's throughout the SE. When I left they had over 275 Hardee's and ~70 Quincys Family Steakhouses a concept they developed.
Jerry was very personable and people oriented, and Chrles was more business, finance and real-estate.
I found the life in business shadowed their time at Wofford -Bradshaw called the plays, Richardson ran the plays. My 3 1/2 years with them was a GREAT experience and the best first job out of college I could have possibly had in my field. As my career moved on I left S.C. and moved to FL in 83.
All this is to say RIP Jerry. Aman I liked and respected
