Jframe flat latch conversion?

I'm not sure if this is the right section. Please move if not.

I'm considering buying a flat latch model 30-1 and I'd like to change out the cylinder release latch to something a little more standard. How simple or difficult is that?If it isn't even possible?

Theoretically it could be done, but it's not simple. You would also need to change the bolt, since they attach differently. Personally, I cannot think of a good reason to do so.

The reasoning is the ease of use. The flat latch isn't novice friendly.

Jack is right. You have to replace the bolt, the thumbpiece and nut. You may be able to get them from gunpartscorp.com
