The name may not sound familiar to many, but to Miami Dolphins fans, the name is instantly recognizable. Jim played for the Dolphins 1968 to 1975 and was a member of the undefeated '72 team and went to three consecutive Super Bowls with the team, winning back to back titles in Super Bowls VII and VIII.

R.I.P. Mr. Kiick and thank you for making Miami a winning town during my childhood!

Easy to say 72 Dolphins, harder to realize how much time has gone by. RIP Jim Kiick, Nick Buonticonti, Don Shula and others that I lost track of. Thanks!

And don't forget #1, Garo Yepremian, one of the best ever as a kicker but as a passer, not so much! :D

Vigil, he was SCARED!

Hey he knew Earl Morrall wasn't going to stop Bill Brundage!

One of the most un-athletic plays ever, but I give Garo credit for trying to turn a blocked kick into....something....:D

Sorry for the drift...Jim Kiick was one of the greats. Kiick and Csonk, twin sons of different mothers, and undefeated in '72! RIP to one of the Fins' best!

I read that and fired up the search engine to re-familiarize myself with someone I admired from my teens.

As a sports fan I am saddened by his passing and will use the power of the web to keep him alive.

Much respect #21.

Alzheimer's is a sad and painful thing for the family to witness. My prayers go to them. He suffers no more.

I spent a semester in a dorm room down the hall from Jim during college.

Took him and 2 other UW football players to a branding at home.

For fun they decided to see if they could up end a cow like we were doing with the calves.

Talk about a butt whipping, those three got it.. Bruises for weeks.

Ran into him again a couple of years later at the Statue of Liberty.

Nice Fella!

If my Redskins had to lose their first Superbowl , I have always been glad it was to such an epically historic team. I hate to see the passing of those players from "back in day" when football was still REAL football. I loved watching the '72 Dolphins when I had the opportunity ! Jim Kiick was the real deal !

I grew up a big fan of him and Larry Csonka and of course the no named defense. Back at that time in Florida they did not have any other pro football teams so I was a Dolphin fan even though I was a long way north of Miami here in N. Central Florida. Florida now has 3 semi pro teams.
