I just read JJ Cale has died.Writer and performer of much good music.They Call Me the Breeze is my favorite.

Sad news. He wrote Cocaine and After Midnight as well. He always impressed me as not taking himself too seriously. On stage he was always very poised and everything seemed to come very naturally to him.

He will be missed by those who know and appreciate his contribution to R&R, Blues, Soul, R&B.....

I was sad to read the news of his passing, another one from the soundtrack of my youth. GOD's peace to JJ Cale, you brought joy to lots of folks here on the 3rd rock from the sun...

I mentioned his passing to most of my crew this morning. 2 are musicians (guitar players). All under 50 but mid to late 40's. And all were like "Who"?

He reminded me of Roy Orbison. An unassuming guy who commanded the stage just because he was there and those with him knew they were playing with music royalty.

RIP, and thanks for the tunes. A seriously underrated musician who never attained the status he deserved, despite his influence on some of the acknowledged greats (Clapton, Knopfler, etc).

Truer words were never said! I do have a favorite, though. "Magnolia", covered by a lot of people but not as good as the original!

His version of "After Midnight" is vastly superior to the Clapton version. It has kind of subtle air of evil about it that reminds me of the "Randall Flagg" character in "The Stand".

He was great.....Saw him once in Texas a long time ago..Cocaine brought the house down....Well! it was the 70's....
