I don't know how many of you have viewed on youtube the interview that was conducted with Joaquin Jackson, a NRA board member that is up for re-election. On the video, he supports a ban on magazines with a capacity of greater than 5 rounds and doesn't believe ordinary citizens should have Modern Sporting Rifles. The NRA Nomination Committee has recommended his re-election. What's wrong with these people?

Several questions:

Does he mean "assault weapon" in the true sense, a select fire weapon, or as the *******ized new definition, scary cosmetic features?

Does he consider himself to be an ordinary citizen now, or is he.... special?

Why exactly would the police need weapons that the military can and should use (see the first question) but citizens can't have? Are they going to war?

If the police continue to become more and more militarized, at what point will we just replace them with the military? I absolutely support the police, and thank the guys that are for the job that they do, but the police aren't the military for a reason.

What is the reason, specifically, that five rounds is the magic number?

The 2013 NRA Ballot Package for eligible voters is in the March issue of the American Rifleman. VOTE!

If a man tells me he has reconsidered his position, says he was wrong and changed his mind, he's earned my respect.

If a man tells me he didn't say what he said and then lapses into denial while blaming others for misunderstanding, he's earned my distrust.

There is additional information on this interview clarifying that he was referring to fully automatic rifles and it was in 2005. He does not support those statements. See: NRA-ILA | Statement of Joaquin Jackson

That is exactly why I asked the first question I asked, and that clarifies that point. However, there is a process in place for the purchase of select fire weapons by civilians and the remainder of my questions remain.

With regard to magazine capacity, what he said in the interview and what he said he said in this statement are two completely different things.

Well my goodness, I think this man should be arrested an charged with impersonating a supporter of the Second Amendment, and a second charged of Impersonating a Texan!

Jokin Jackson has been a part of the good old boy group in the NRA for far too long. Why their nominating committee keeps putting him up is beyond me.
I never look at their preferred list before I vote, but attempt as best as I can to determine where each candidate stands on issues. It is difficult to impossible to really find out much about each of them because the only thing you have to go by is the little puff piece write-ups about themselves that they put in the magazine.

I voted for less than 25 because I didn't know enough about some of them to make an informed vote. That way at least your votes for the good ones count a bit heavier.

It Beats Me Too!

I guess the 'Board' likes his image from the cover of Texas Monthly Magazine.

I don't know what the NRA's payin Jackson...But We're gettin short changed.

Sumbody ought to school him to what the 2nd is about, and to stay on our message.

(it's not about hunting and one shot game kills)

It's obvious Jackson doesn't know either one.

It's time to recruit a new Ranger.
