Since January I've been on light duty (another knee replacement) working the metal detector at Chancery Court. This court handles property matters, divorces, probate, lunacy hearings and a few other things. I was informed today that instead of working the metal detector I will be working as bailiff when court is in session and as bailiff when lunacy hearings are in session. I will fill in occassionally on the metal detector if the new guy can't be there for some reason and if court is not in session I will be playing in my beloved trailer parks, housing projects, and rural areas. The light duty ticket has been cancelled. I have been deemed healthy enough to blue light someone if needed and can now answer calls again. All this may change in the next few weeks, but for now let the good times roll.

I think it's time for you to become the poet laureate and Joseph Wambaugh of Mississippi! An off camera technical advisor for the new production of the reality series "Cops meet Mother, Jugg's and Speed" (No longer with Bill Cosby and Raquel Welch alas?) but in the new millennium starring toothless Meth head cousins. I mean if Paris and Nicky can make a show out of barfing on their $2,000 spike heels, why couldn't this work!

Baliff-ing is a lot of fun. You get to see first hand why they sometimes run out if the courtroom crying!

When the Judge comes in instead of saying "All Rise" why don't you try a hale and hearty " Stand up - here comes de Judge".

Also you get to yell out in open Court "TAKE YOUR HAT OFF" or "ORDER IN THE COURT" although my personal preference is the tried and true "HEY....STFU" (this works best on misdemeanor day);)

Meth heads and assorted reprobates... head for the hills! Charlie's back!

Sounds kinda like The Lounge here, but much quieter....

Could you handle those hearings for me here, maybe nights and weekends? ;)

Glad that your health is good enough to be off of light duty.

Kid goes to a faith healer and ask's him to pray for his hearing. The entire group does so and the Reverand ask's "how's your hearing now son?" He replys "I don't know, the hearing ain't til Thursday".
You will probably get to meet him.

If we thought we got good stories when Charlie was on metal detector duty, imagine what we are going to hear after a while as baliff! I for one can't wait.
