At first glance it may appear this post is a general discussion about politics, but it's not. It's about the qualifications of public service.
As I consider the reports of Joe the Plumber running for office, I recall in times past there was another congressman who was considered an "idiot bumpkin" by the other side, though he was very popular with his constituents who sent him to Washington for three terms. For a time he was even considered a serious contendor as a presidential candidate to run against a very powerful sitting president. His name was David Crockett from Tennessee.
What other "unqualified" public servants can you think of that made a positive impact in the arena.
