I figured but I didn't see it so I sent my own post.
I missed this so I started my own thread but I'll move it here - mods, feel free to close my thread:
At the back of the current S&W Collector's Journal, I noticed that well-known gun writer and friend to all of us, John Taffin, has crossed the rainbow bridge. The gun world will miss him.
Some years ago, "Sixgunner" John advised me to take advantage of S&W's offer to replace a broken handgun at their cost to obtain a CS-45. Excellent advice! Years later, S&W had an offer to military personnel to buy discounted handguns, and John advised me to purchase a Model 27 Classic. Again, excellent advice!!
