Here's a "The Horse Soldiers" behind the scenes shot of William Holden and John Wayne showing actress Constance Towers how to handle his Model 29. Or pre 29? I assume it's Holden's gun since I know he owned one. I probably got that from this forum. I've seen pictures of him with it. The movie came out in '59 so this was probably 1958.

If she's actually shooting that one-handed, she's a better man than me. :D:D

Does being naked help with recoil?
I wonder if she lost that blanket when she touched one off?
I guess that's why she's holding the gun one-handed. If I'd been The Duke, or Bill Holden, I would have chivalrously offered to keep the blanket firmly about her shoulders.

I’ll bet it’s this one !

She appeared in a fair number of movies in the 50s and 60s but most of them were forgettable. Her later work was mainly on the stage and TV. I don’t remember ever seeing her in anything other than The Horse Soldiers, which was never one of my favorites. I remember long ago having the Vinyl LP soundtrack recording of The Horse Soldiers. I don’t remember why or how I got it, or anything about the music.

My mom kept up with her on GH.

"Towers' best-known soap part is as villainous Helena Cassadine on General Hospital which she began playing late in 1997, continuing until her character was killed off in 2015, but made guest appearances in 2016, 2017, 2019 and most recently February 2020."

I think there's a scene in the movie where she's covered with a blanket.

This thread got me to wanting to watch the movie tonight.

They caught her listening in on their plans, so they had to take her along. Suddenly she makes a run for it, but her horse goes down in the slough. So she's wrapped up in a blanket while the men are drying her clothes over a fire.

The Horse Soldiers is actually one of my favorite John Wayne movies, maybe because William Holden, my second favorite actor (after Robert Duvall) is in it. Also some pretty good dialogue. "Ding-dong, ding-dong."
