His humor fit in with the times, a very entertaining comedian.

Perhaps his greatest role was as a Marine who served in the Pacific during World War II.

Yes, Maudie Frickert has left the building...

Winters was fast, funny, and a very troubled man. Also, from what I've heard, an accomplished painter.

The speed with which his mind worked was almost scary, till I saw Robin Williams. Both had their problems, and I often wondered if a mind racing that fast might be a burden.

Winters was brilliant, no doubt about it.

I remember him on the Smothers Brothers and really got to liking him. Seems like he had his own show once where it wasnt scripted, he would just pick up something from the "attic" or whatever room it was, and improv it. My fav was when he was a gas station attendant giving directions.RIP.

That's sad. I heard that earlier today. The home he grew up in is 2 miles from here. "Legendary Comic", well describes him. RIP Sir.

Admittedly, I thought he had passed away a while ago!?!?!?
Winters had such a "tuned in" wit and amazing timing that he could command every scene. What a character (or more precisely, what a hundred hysterical characters)!

Jonathan Winters was an extremely talented man. His standup and improv with Robin Williams was otherworldly. They say there is a fine line between genius and insanity and he walked on both sides of the fence. RIP Mr. Winters.

He was hilarious. Boy, a lot of the celebs I grew up watching have bit the big one lately. Starts to make a person feel old.

He was a true master of improvisational comedy. Give him any item, any setting or any subject and he could do an entire hilarious bit about it just making it up as we went.
He was a rare talent.
